Summer Festival
Project Happy Feet was glad to be invited again to a Cabin John Mall event. Here, we celebrated our organization as well as the community we serve. We had fun arts and crafts, and engaged with community members of all ages. It is always a pleasure to be outdoors with the people we work for and with. We plan on continuing to show up in the community and bring our presence to great events as such.
2024 Spring Festival
The Project Happy Feet team was thrilled to be welcomed back to Cabin John Village to participate in their spring festival this year! Our ambassadors and officers engaged with the community through fun crafts like bracelet making, coloring sheets, and sports-themed trivia for prizes! Once again, this was a great opportunity to meet some new faces in the community and let them know about our work. It gave us insight into some new spaces that may be useful to put up boxes and allowed us to collect some donations from some wonderful people. We can not wait to be back for a summer festival collecting more donations, raising awareness, and meeting new members of the community!
McKinley Tech High School Donation
Thank you to Ms. Wilkerson for meeting us today! We donated over 75 pairs of shoes and equipment and received a wonderful tour of the school!
Arcola Elementary School Donation
We donated over 75 shoes and athletic equipment to Arcola Elementary School. We had a great time meeting the community coordinator at this school. We also got lucky and had the chance to see some of the other items the school offers families in the community.
Dunbar High School Donation
Today, we were so thrilled to make a surplus of donations to Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in DC! We donated over 100 pairs of shoes and sports jerseys, making this our biggest donation yet, and marking over 500 shoes and sports equipment donated overall by Project Happy Feet. It was amazing to work with Dunbar as well, as they are historically the first public high school in America founded for black students, and they work to create a diverse community in order to prepare their students for life and the workforce. We can’t wait to work with more schools like Dunbar to donate more equipment, and continue to make sports more equitable.
Samuel Williams 5k
Our officers stationed at the Thomas S. Wootton High School track this morning to be a part of the festivities at the annual Samuel Williams 5k. It was an amazing experience to collect the shoes of some runners of the 5k, connect with athletes in the area, and be a part of something greater in our nearby community. The Samuel Williams Leadership Foundation is a great program that helps teens get leadership opportunities that help them later in life, and we were very proud to have been able to be here with them today. The festivities were full of fun with face painting, conversation, and good food. All in all, we at Project Happy Feet were very thankful to be a part of this experience, the ability to collect more shoes and equipment, and commend the Samuel Williams Leadership Foundation for their work supporting the futures of young leaders in our area.

Fall Festival
Our Fall Festival included sports trivia, games, and arts and crafts to help bring attention and spread the word about our cause! We set up at Cabin John Shopping Center during the Farmers Market and our turnout was INCREDIBLE!
Many families stopped by to color pumpkins, play games, and make friendship bracelets. While the kids played, we took the time to talk to parents and other adults who stopped by to tell them about who we are and how they can donate any equipment or shoes they may have.
Some people even came back to donate equipment and others decided to learn about us by scanning our QR code and visiting our website.
The Farmers Market team was incredibly gracious and invited us back for their Winter Festival which will be in December! Thank you to everyone who attended our event and we can’t wait to see you this December!
